To plan, coordinate and execute an educational and instructional literacy and visual arts workshop for fifteen (15) to twenty (20) school-aged children, ages 6-12 at the Guam Public Library in Hagåtña.
Literacy is the ability to read, write, speak and listen. It enables people to express and understand ideas and opinions, to make decisions and solve problems, to achieve their goals, and to participate fully in their community and in wider society.
The theme of this workshop is Legends of Guam. Workshop must include a storytelling sharing opportunity – an active dialogue between the presenter and workshop participants about the stories presented; a writing workshop; and a visual art component not limited to finger-painting, watercolor, acrylic, coloring, pen & ink, etc. Tabloid editions of the Legends of Guam will be produced by the workshop participants by the end of the program.
Workshops must be conducted beginning July 01, 2019 and conclude by July 31, 2019 for a period of 68 hours total, Monday thru Thursday, and Saturdays in the afternoon; and be inclusive of supplies and materials. A minimum of one (1) tabloid per individual must be accomplished.
In addition to the request for quotation (RFQ), please provide the following:
- A detailed narrative
- Of what the project will entail; and
- The number or workshop participants; and
- Timeline/ schedule of project; and
- Other pertinent information, etc.

Project period for the FY 2020 Grant Cycle is October 1, 2019 to September 30, 2020.

Håfa Adai! In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Guam, the Liberation Education Committee is inviting the students from Guam’s Public and Private Schools, grades 3 – 12 to participate in this year’s Liberation Art Contest. Cash prizes will be awarded to one winner in each category. The contest is broken down into 3 categories, Category 1: 3rd-5th grade; Category 2: 6th-8th grade; and Category 3: 9th-12th Grade.
The theme of this year’s Liberation Art Contest is “A Legacy of Peace and Friendship 1944-2019 75th Guam Liberation”.
The 75th Guam Liberation Education Committee is requesting your support by disseminating the information about the contest to your teachers, art teachers and students.
Deadline to enter the contest is May 10, 2019. The Guam Council on the Arts and Humanities Agency (CAHA) will host “JUMP START YOUR ART: Marketing, Resources & Guides” – two workshops for artists, cultural producers and entrepreneurs. The educational and capacity building workshops will enable artists and cultural producers to connect their entrepreneurial spirit and creative freedom to “JUMP START” their art business.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2015 GUAM MASTERS AWARD – “GUAM NATIONAL TREASURE”: CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
The Guam Council on the Arts and Humanities Agency (CAHA) is pleased to announce that nomination packets for the Guam Masters Award - “Guam National Treasure” are available. Created through Public Law 30-139, the Guam Masters Award - “Guam National Treasure” was established to recognize master practitioners of Guam’s Traditional and Folk Arts. The award gives due recognition to these master practitioners for their artistry and craftsmanship, and their continuing efforts to preserve Guam’s rich history and cultural traditions through the practice and perpetuation of their arts. The award acknowledges artists whose contributions, primarily through teaching, advocacy, organizing and preserving important repertoires, have greatly benefited their artistic tradition; and whose efforts have significantly increased opportunities for and public visibility of traditional and folk arts. The award guarantees the continuity of our cultural traditions, leaving the children of Guam a vested legacy.
Since the establishment of the Guam Masters Award in 2010, CAHA has bestowed the award to eight cultural practitioners. In late 2011, Josefa “Tan Pai” Cruz Certeza, Francisco C. Lizama, Greg T. Pangelinan and Eileen R. Meno were given the award by Governor Calvo. Posters honoring these four National Treasures were unveiled in March 2012 during the Annual Silebrasion Mes Chamorro at the Chamorro Village in Hagåtña. In 2014, three other cultural practitioners were presented the award: Leonard Z. Iriarte, Sainan Minenhalom Manlålai Chamorro (Master of Chamorro Chant); Julie Q. Benavente, Sainan Minenhalom Manlasgue - Adotnon I Tatåotao (Master Carver - Body Ornamentation and Vincent J.C. Reyes Sainan Minenhalom Bumailan Chamorro / Master of Chamorro Dance in 2014. Peter R. Onedera is the most recent recipient of this prestigious award, having received the title of Sainan Minenhalom Sinangan Ginen i Hila’ (Master Storyteller) in 2015.

Guam Regional Medical City Solicitation for Digital Art
The Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) in collaboration with the Guam Council on the Arts and Humanities Agency is soliciting, from qualified local artists, digital images that will be printed, framed and displayed at the new hospital. The total number of digital images sought for this project is 1,183. GRMC will award $50 for each print of selected images.
Digital images must be of original pieces of art by the artist including but not limited to illustration, photography, video stills, graphic design, or any other technique, or form of art (including contemporary art and fine art). Themes may include, but are not limited to: skyscapes, landscapes, floral, historical/cultural, and fauna. The hospital desires images that are soothing and promote the healing process. Consideration will also be given to images that depict the culture, history, and natural beauty of Guam and/or the region.
Wednesday, September 24, The deadline for submission of digital images to CAHA is 2014 at 1:30pm, Chamorro Standard Time. All interested artists are encouraged to attend an orientation scheduled on August 29, 2014 at 6:00p.m. at the CAHA Office.

Connect Me * Create Me * Promote Me Series
A workshop to create a Marianas-centric Chamoru Seafaring Lexicon and awaken and connect to Chamorro ancestral heritage is set for July 26 and 27.
This workshop is the third in a set of four being offered by the Guam Council on the Arts and Humanities with funding from the Guam Visitors Bureau and support from Guam Preservation Trust and Guampedia. The workshop is being offered to keep Guamartists current with plans for the Festival of Pacific Arts scheduled for 2016 on Guam, and improve their knowledge on how they can better prepare their works for a professional display.

“Come Sip with Us”
In conjunction with Guam’s Public Broadcasting system (KGTF), an International food and Wine Festival will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm at the CAHA Gallery. Tickets are on sale at $40 per persons and $65 per couple and are available at the CAHA Gallery or Guam’s Public Broadcasting system (KGTF).
